Making friends.

I'm looking forward to having our shipped items delivered to us, so we have some homely bits around to make us feel settled. I'm more so looking forward to our little Miss Molly being delivered! She's been happy staying at Furrball Cattery though, we visit her every Sunday and she always seems her usual playful self. Our time living in the city is drawing to a close (thank god, city life is hard work with a bambino), beach living beckons - and I just hope I make some nice friends. I am not good at making friends anymore. Not sure why, I think it's because I really suck at making small talk. Get me into a conversation about something I am passionate about, and I'm firing on all social cylinders, but I generally suck arse at the small talk thing. I tend to embarrass myself by saying something really stoopid. Or slur my words like I am drunk (or doing a very good impression of Kerry Katona pre sober days). But then when I am around the right people, I don't suffer any of the above at all.
So we shall see, I'll either meet the right people and feel comfortable, or I'll meet nice people and struggle to communicate like a normal human being.
I really hope it's not the latter.

I find it difficult to even start to make friends. How do you start that all over again without sounding like a desperate loner? It's hard. But you have a baby. And he is BOUND to give you something in common with other women. Mums always make friends with other mums. You'll be going to coffee mornings & play dates in no time.

Dumb question though; do the people in Hong Kong speak English? or have you been learning another language aswell!

But I definitely agree re: mums making friends with other mums!! You will be absolutely fine, I'm sure
